Sowams Sings: Our annual school-wide concert is coming up on June 5 at 10:45 am. This is an outside concert so bring your beach chair and hat and relax while our students entertain you. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved inside. However, there will be no chairs set up; standing room only.
Author Visit: On June 5 and 7, author Gaia Cornwall will be at Sowams. If you would like to have a book signed by Ms. Cornwall, you can print out the form below and send it back to the school library by June 4, 2018.
Book Swap: During Reading Week, Mrs. Greene will have a book swap. Students can bring in grade level books that are in good condition, receive a “book buck” and then will be able to swap them for another book. Books can be brought to school the week of June 4; students will get their “new to them” book during the week of June 11. More information is attached below.
The Tomorrow Fund Fundraiser: As a part of our Tuesday afternoon Enrichment Clusters, we will be selling products created by our students. More information about the sales will be sent home. We will also be having an additional fundraiser on June 6. This is Rainbow Day. Students can dress from head to toe in the colors of the rainbow (to match The Tomorrow Fund logo). Students can do crazy hair, different colored socks, colorful clothes, and more. We are asking everyone who participates for a $2.00 donation (but any amount will be grateful).
Outdoor Day/Cookout: June 18 is our Outdoor Day. The children will have lots of fun playing games outside in the morning. Please make sure you send your child to school with a water bottle. The cookout is that afternoon. The order form for that day’s lunch is below. All orders (for students and others) are due by June 8.
Third Grade Parents and Third Grade Reception: Our third grade send-off is June 13 at 6:30 in the evening. This is an event for the third graders and their parents (including step-parents). Siblings and others should not be joining you on this night.
All Other Parents and the Third Grade Reception: Volunteers are needed to assist with the Third Grade Reception. Typically, parents of students in grades kindergarten, one, and two volunteer on this night so third grade parents can enjoy the night with their child. If you are able to volunteer, please go to My School Anywhere to sign up.
PTO Meeting: The final PTO meeting of the year is Monday night at 7:00. During this meeting, next year’s new Executive Board will be voted on. Child care is always provided at the meetings.
Community Notices: Different organization in our community host different events. Rather than sending out these notices to parents, the community vents can be found here.
Other Bits of Information
Playground: Many families are heading to the playground after school each day. This is a great opportunity for the children to run around after spending much of the day working hard. With that said, the children are expected to follow the same expectations after school on the playground as they do during the school day. Some of the expectations include proper use of the slide and other equipment, staying within the boundaries of the school, leaving sticks/rocks on the ground, and keeping hands and feet to themselves. Please make sure you are supervising your children and that your children are following the expectations. If they are not, please let them know they need to follow them. The children certainly know them.
Lost and Found: Before the end of the school year, please check the lost and found in the school’s foyer.
