Octoberfest: This fundraising event is October 13. Here is a lot of information for you:
Basket Raffle Tickets: Presale for raffle tickets has started. You should have received information last week through your child’s backpack. There are many different baskets including the following: New England Tailgating, Spa Day, Harry Potter, Lego, and many others. Information about presale tickets is attached below.
Golden Band: The student who sells the most presale tickets will receive the golden band. What’s that? See the attachment below for the information.
Cake/Bake Walk: This popular game is back for Octoberfest. But, donations are needed. Baked goods (home-made or store bought) are needed for prizes. Please see the attachment below with more information.
Mystery Bags: Don’t forget to send your Mystery Bag back to school so it can be sold on the day of Octoberfest.
Volunteers: It’s not too late to volunteer on Saturday. Click here to sign up.
Silent Auction: The Silent Auction is up and running. It is an online auction. There are many wonderful items up for bidding. To access the Silent Auction, click here. Don’t forget to share this link with friends and family who may not be able to attend Octoberfest. The auction closes at 3:00 Saturday.
PTO/Arts Alive Play: The play has been announced. This year’ performance will be The Jungle Book. Registration is now open for students in grades 1-3. You can register here (and payment would be sent to the school by check made payable to Sowams PTO). Much more information is attached below.
Movie Night: The PTO is sponsoring a movie night of The Jungle Book. Movie night will be October 19 beginning at 6:00 in the evening. Information is attached below.
New Volunteer Orientation: There is a volunteer orientation tonight at 6:15 at Nayatt School. If you have not attended one of the previous orientations and you are a new volunteer, you should try to attend tonight’s session.
Other Bits of Information
Background Checks: All volunteers are expected to have a background check on file with the district. Background checks need to be updated every two years. If there is a not a current check on file, parents cannot volunteer in classrooms or the library, go on field trips, run Sowams Speedway, or participate in other in-school opportunities. To get a background check, you can make an appointment with the Barrington Police or go to the Attorney General’s office in Cranston.
