Upcoming Events

  • Town Meeting:  The Town Meeting scheduled for yesterday has been rescheduled.  The new date is January 7 at 1:40 in the afternoon. Mrs. Hunt’s class is the class of the week.  Others who were scheduled to present will present as well.

  • Chess Class:  A new session of chess will begin Wednesday January 8th and will run for 6 weeks. It will be offered on Wednesday and Friday mornings this session due to increased enrollment in the fall session. You may register for either Wednesday or Friday morning class, not both. Classes run from 7:10 am-7:50 am. Space is limited and enrollment is on a first come first served basis. Flyer is attached here

  • Providence Bruins:  The Sowams Night at the Providence Bruins is scheduled for Sunday January 5th. Those who purchased tickets may pick them up at Will Call at the Dunkin Donuts Center the day of the game. Please contact Kristin Brown at brownkristin33@gmail.com with any questions.

  • Grade Three Concert:  Our Third Grade Chorus performs at the Rhode Island State House on December 19 at 10:30 am.

  • School Vacation:  We do not have school from December 23, 2019 through January 1, 2020.  We return to school on Thursday, January 2, 2020.

  • PTO Meeting:  At the January 6 PTO meeting, which begins at 7:00 pm, Tracey McGee, the Hampden Meadows School principal, will be here to talk about transition to HMS school.  Third grade parents are encouraged to come.

Other Bits of Information

  • Lost and Found:  There are various items in the lost and found that belong to our students.  Surprisingly, there are winter jackets in it. Please make sure you check the lost and found as soon as possible.  Items will be donated to Tap In come the New Year.

  • Parking in the Lot:  When parking in the school’s parking lot, please make sure you are parking legally.  The space to the left of the handicapped spots is not a parking spot for your vehicle.  There is a no parking sign there. Also, the grass area on the right when pulling into the lot is also considered a no parking zone.  By not parking in these spots, it will be easier for everyone to enter and exit the parking lot.

On behalf of everyone at Sowams School, I hope you have a

wonderful holiday and a happy, healthy New Year!
