Town Meeting: Our next Town Meeting, hosted by Mrs. Squatrito’s class, will take place on Tuesday, January 14 at 1:40.
Kindergarten Registration: Do you have a five year (as of September 1) that will be coming to kindergarten? Registration is coming up. During the week of February 10, 2020, the school district will start registering children for kindergarten for the next school year. Sowams, Primrose Hill, and Nayatt schools will be accepting registrations for the children who live in the school’s neighborhood. You need to bring with you the following information to register your child: proof of residency, original birth certificate or passport, and immunization records. Grade 2 Family Book Club: The second grade family book club is coming up on February 13. The book for the Club is The Year of Billy Miller. More information about the book club may be found here. Click here to register.
Other Bits of Information
New Faculty Members: We have two new teachers at Sowams. First, Ms. Hilary Lungred has joined us as our new English Language Learning teachers. Second, Ms. Caroline Neubauer has joined us a our new grade 3 intern. We welcome them to Sowams School.
Background Checks: Background checks are valid for two years from the date they were completed. If your background check expires, you need to get a new one completed at either the Barrington Police station or the Attorney General’s office in Cranston. Without an up-to-date background check, you will not be able to volunteer at our schools.
PTOffice: For those of you who have not yet signed up for PTOffice, I am going to suggest you do so today. This program will be used by the PTO for PTO program registrations (like Extended Day coming up soon). Information on how to sign up for PTOffice may be found here.
Community Notices: There are several community notices for you. The first one, which may be found here, is from Barrington Little League. The next several are from the Barrington Public Library, which are focused on teen programming.
