Backpack Express

Good morning,

This week’s Backpack Express is ready for you to enjoy reading:

  • Wellness Expo:  Our district, in conjunction with the Barrington Education Foundation, is hosting a Wellness Expo on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at the Barrington Middle School from 10:00-2:00.   There will be various tables set up with information on living healthy lifestyles, mental health, and a host of other topics.  There will be a yoga class at 12:00 and guided meditation at 11:00 and 1:00.  Information about the Expo may be found here

  • Bike Safety:  On May 20 at 10:00-1:00 will be a bike safety and repair program sponsored by the Barrington Police and other local organizations.  This event is free to those participating.  More information about this event may be found here.

  • Tough Tiger:  On Sunday, May 21, 2023, Hampden Meadows School has their biggest fundraiser of the year:  the Tough Tiger.  This is a fun family event that has everyone running, going through obstacle courses, and getting very muddy.  More information about the Tough Tiger may be found here.  Volunteers are needed with this event.  Click this link for volunteering.

  • Grade 3 State Assessment for Math:  Students in grade 3 will have the RICAS statement on May 16 and 17.  They will begin each morning at approximately 8:30.

  • Hearing Screening:  As Mrs. Mungovan sent out to all families, the RI School for the Deaf will be here on May 17, 2023, for screening of students in grades K-2.  They will be here on May 18, 2023, to screen our third graders.  Hearing screenings are one the state mandated screenings that all students need to have done.

  • Book Drive:  Two Barrington High School students are hosting a book drive to collect paperback books to benefit two organizations.  You may drop off books in our school’s foyer until May 30.  More information may be found here.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your day.

Best,
