Backpack Express

Good morning,

Below is this week’s Backpack Express.  Happy Reading!

  • DEIB:  The district’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging committee has put together a calendar of celebrations during the month of November.  You may access this information here.

  • Halloween:  As Halloween approaches, I want to remind everyone that we do not distribute food items to our students.  This includes candy.  Please do not send in candy for classes on Halloween.  Any candy sent in will be sent back home with your child.  Also, students do not wear costumes to school on Halloween.

  • Book Fair:  Our PTO’s Book Fair is coming up.  It will happen at our school the week of November 13, 2023.  Students will have an opportunity to visit the Fair on Tuesday or Wednesday of that week.  A schedule will be emailed to you prior to the Book Fair.  Also, Family Night will occur on Thursday, November 16, 2023.  More information about the Book Fair will be sent home.

  • Tap In Food Drive:  THIS WEEK ONLY!  Each year, many local residents experience food insecurity especially around the holidays.  Tap In is a wonderful local resource for families in order to assist in getting food.  As a school, we will be holding a Thanksgiving Food Drive during the week of October 23, 2023.  We will accept the following food items:  stuffing, instant potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce, brownie and cookie mix.  There is a box in the school’s foyer for donations.

  • Building Committee Community Meetings:  The Barrington School Building Committee is hosting a series of community meetings in preparation for Stage II of its Necessity of School Construction application. Each meeting will include a short presentation from Tecton Architects and a community discussion.Attending a community meeting is an opportunity for you to learn about the future of school construction projects in Barrington that address space and security deficits, Barrington's growing population, and the needs of twenty-first century learning.  Community meetings will take place on:

  • November No School Days:  The following are days students do not have school:

    • November 7:  Election Day

    • November 13:  Veterans Day observance

    • November 22, 23, and 24:  Thanksgiving break

  • Community Notice:  There is one notice for you this week.  It’s from Primrose Hill School.  They have a fun, family Spooky Stroll coming up this Saturday.

Have a great Wednesday!

Best,
