Book Fair: Our fall Book Fair is coming up the week of November 13, 2023. Information about the Book Fair may be found here. You can find out how to set up the e-wallet for your child on the site. If you would like to volunteer at the Book Fair, you may sign up here. Students will visit the Book Fair on Tuesday or Wednesday of that week. The schedule for the visits may be found here. Family Night is November 16, 2023, from 5:00-7:00 in the evening.
Picture Retake Day: For those students who were absent on our picture day and for those who want their child’s picture retaken, it will happen on the morning of November 17, 2023. If you have not ordered pictures, you may go to the Coffee Pond website to do so. If you are having your child’s picture retaken, you do need to return the package you received.
Candy Collection: Now that Halloween has passed, similar to last year, we are having a Halloween candy collection to benefit Amos House and Meals on Wheels. In our school’s foyer, there is a container for students to donate candy in plastic bags. More information may be found here.
Flu Shot Clinic: There is another opportunity for families to get their flu shots in Barrington. Barrington High School will be hosting a clinic on November 2, 2023, from 4:00-8:00. You can register at schoolflu.com.
November No School Days: The following are days students do not have school:
November 7: Election Day
November 13: Veterans Day observance
November 22, 23, and 24: Thanksgiving break

PTO’s November Calendar
PTO Directory: The PTO Directory of numbers is now available for you. This directory contains the information of our families who have volunteered to share their information. This information should not be used for any types of solicitation or shared with people who are not affiliated with Sowams School and the Sowams School PTO. Please email Mrs. Kotsiris at kotsirisc@barringtonschools.org for the link. If you are not in the Directory but would like to be included, you may sign up here.
PTO Meeting: The next PTO meeting will be held Monday, November 6 at 7:00 in the evening. A link to the meeting will be emailed to you on Monday.
Lunch Information: In case you missed yesterday’s email, you may access the November hot lunch schedule here. Also, it’s never too late to apply for free/reduced lunch. Information about this and other lunch information may be found here.
Recess: The weather is starting to change and it’s going to be cooler when we go outside for recess. Children need to be dressed appropriately to go outside. Regardless of how your child is dressed, they will go outside for recess. The only times we do not go outside are when it’s raining or bitterly cold.
