Backpack Express

Good afternoon,

This week’s Backpack Express is ready for you.  Please read the whole document as there is a lot of information in it for you.

  • PTO School Directory:  Each year, the PTO puts together a Sowams Directory of names and contact information for our students and families.  Once complete, the directory information is then shared with only our school community.  It is not used for any solicitation (except room parents for school related information) and should not be shared with non-school families.  It is up to you to decide if you want your information put into this directory.  If you would like to share your information with others in our school, please complete this form from the PTO.

  • Flu Shot Clinic:  Sowams School is hosting a community flu shot clinic on October 22, 2025, from 3:30-6:30.  You can make an appointment and find out more information here.  This is open to everyone regardless of insurance.

  • Morning Drop Off:  There are a couple reminders about morning drop off:

    • Students should not be dropped off prior to 7:30 each morning.  There is no supervision before this time.

    • To avoid traffic back up onto Sowams Rd., it is really important that everyone follow the drop off procedures.  You may access them here.

    • Your child does not need to be dropped off at the front door of the school.  The sidewalk covers the entire drop off area.

  • Common Sense Media School:  Once again, Sowams School is recognized as a Common Sense Media school.  This means we are committed to ensuring our students are digital citizens.  Our librarian, Mrs. Greene teaches our students about being safe when they are online.

  • Octoberfest:  I sent out an email earlier today about Octoberfest.  Here’s a quick notice reminder about the Silent Auction, volunteering, and info about donating to the cafe and cake walk.

  • No School:  As a reminder, there is no school this coming Monday (October 13th) in honor of Indigenous Peoples Day.

Have a wonderful rest of the day.

Best,

Jim Callahan

Principal
