Third Grade Chorus Performance: Our Third Grade Chorus will perform for parents on December 18, 2025, at 1:45. The concert invitation may be found here.
December Community Service Project: We are collecting new gloves/mittens, hats, and scarves for children and adults who do not have these items. We will be giving them to the East Bay Community Action Program which works with families in the east bay area. Information may be found here. Items may be dropped off in the box in the foyer.
Barrington Education Foundation: The BEF is sponsoring their annual Thank a Teacher fundraising event. You can purchase a STAR to thank a member of our school community. More information may be found here about this program.
Movie Night at BMS: On Friday, Dec 12th 2025, Barrington Middle School will host a movie night for Barrington Public School 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. This event is a fundraiser to help support our annual 8th-grade trip to Washington, DC. PTO P-Bruins Game: The PTO will be at an upcoming Providence Bruins game. On Sunday, January 11, 2026, you can join your Sowams friends for an afternoon of hockey. When you purchase your tickets, they will all be within the same area. The link to purchase tickets may be found here.
Town Meeting: We have a Town Meeting on Monday afternoon. Mrs. Arguelles’ class is hosting it. Other classes will present during our Meeting. If your child’s class is presenting, your child’s teacher will let you know. If you are picking your child up after Town Meeting, they will be dismissed at the end of the day. If you do not normally pick your child up from school, you MUST send a note indicating you are doing this. If we do not receive a note, your child will go home their normal way. It is too busy for any last second changes.
Progress Reports: Your child’s first trimester progress report will be available on December 19, 2025. You will find it in Aspen. If you do not know your username and password, you will need to email aspenhelp@barringtonschools.org to have everything reset. We are not able to do this from the school and we do not have access to usernames and passwords for parents.
Grades 2 and 3 PTO/Arts Alive Play: Registration opens in January about the second and third grade play program. This year, the play will be Finding Nemo, Jr. Information about audition and rehearsal dates, performance date and times, and registration may be found here.
School Construction Community Forum: On January 12, 2026, at 6:00 in the evening, there will be a community forum regarding the upcoming construction project at Sowams. This is an in-person meeting at our school. Information may be found here.
December Celebrations: There are a lot of celebrations that occur in December. The district’s DEIB committee has put together information about the December celebrations, which may be accessed here.
