Dear Barrington Public Schools Families, Faculty, and Staff,
On behalf of the Barrington School Committee, I am pleased to share that the School Committee voted last night to approve a contract appointing Dr. Holly Hageman as the next permanent Superintendent of Barrington Public Schools.
Dr. Hageman is an experienced and highly respected educational leader who currently serves as Superintendent of Marlborough Public Schools in Connecticut. She will officially begin her role in Barrington on July 20, 2026, and will work alongside Interim Superintendent Bob Mitchell to help ensure a thoughtful and seamless leadership transition for our district.
As we share this exciting news, I also want to express the School Committee’s sincere gratitude to Interim Superintendent Bob Mitchell for his outstanding leadership and service during this important transitional period for Barrington Public Schools. Bob stepped into this role at a critical time for our district and provided steady and thoughtful leadership focused on students, staff, families, and our entire district community. His work helped position Barrington for continued success, and we are incredibly grateful for all he has done for our schools.
Please join me in thanking Bob for his dedication to Barrington Public Schools and wishing him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.
I also want to thank the members of the Superintendent Search Committee who helped identify a finalist pool of candidates for School Committee interviews. Their input and engagement were invaluable and reflected Barrington’s strong tradition of community involvement and partnership in our schools.
Dr. Hageman brings nearly four decades of educational experience to Barrington, including service as a superintendent, assistant superintendent, principal, curriculum leader, and classroom teacher. Throughout her career, she has built a reputation as a student-centered leader focused on academic excellence, strong school culture, strategic planning, transparent communication, and ensuring every student has the support and opportunity needed to reach their fullest potential.
Throughout this process, it became clear that Dr. Hageman is someone who leads with integrity, builds strong school culture, values relationships, and is focused on both student and educator success. As Barrington Public Schools enters an important new chapter, from the kickoff of our historic school construction projects to advancement of academic excellence, we prioritized hiring a superintendent who will provide stability, strong leadership, and long-term vision for our community. We are confident Dr. Hageman brings the right mix of skill and capacity needed to further strengthen our leading district, build relationships and trust across the community, and guide our schools successfully into the future.
Dr. Hageman shared the following message with the Barrington community:
