Good afternoon,
I hope you have been having a great day. Here’s this week’s Backpack Express to make it better:
Octoberfest: Yesterday, I emailed home an Octoberfest update. Here are two reminders:
Mystery Bags: Information about the Mystery Bags were sent home today (or possibly tomorrow). Directions and a bag are included.
Basket Raffle Tickets: Coming home soon are the presale class basket raffles. Students have the chance to win a Golden Wristband that gives them admission to all the games! To earn the Golden Wristband, sell the most raffle tickets by October 14th. Bags with instructions and tickets will be in your child's go home folder on Friday, October 2nd. Good Luck!"
Extended Day Part 1: This afterschool program starts next week on Tuesdays and Thursdays depending on the class. There are still openings in Thursday's Karate. If your child is interested in this class, please email sowamsptoextendedday@gmail.com.
Extended Day Part 2: Next week is the first week of classes. If your child is signed up for Extended Day, you do not need to send a note to school. We have a list of students who signed up and will be attending. If your child is NOT staying on a given Tuesday or Thursday, you need to send a note indicating this. No note means they are going to Extended Day.
PTO’s Apple Picking: This fun event is scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 9:00-10:00. Information may be found here.
Parent Engagement Series: Last night, we had our first of five sessions in our elementary parent engagement series. The next session is Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Barrington Middle School. The topic is “Building Emotional Regulation Skills.” Here is a list of all of the dates and topics.
PTO Meeting: The next PTO meeting is Monday, October 5, 2026, at 7:00 PM. A link for the meeting will be sent out on Monday.
October No School Day: We will not have school on Monday, October 12, 2026, in recognition of Indigenous People’s Day.
Community Notice: There is one notice from Creative Wanderings.
Have a wonderful night.
Best,
Jim Callahan
Principal
Sowams School Mission: Everyone learns every day.
Sowams School Vision: Sowams School will engage students to be their best selves.
