Before you read this week’s Backpack Express, there are two reminders for you:
Tonight: Open House for adults is tonight. Kindergarten and Grade 1 will run 6:00-7:00; grades 2 and 3, 7:15-8:15.
Tomorrow: Picture Day is tomorrow. All students will have their pictures taken. If you would like to purchase pictures, please click this Coffee Pond link.
Now, here is all of the other information for you:
New Volunteer Orientation: All new volunteers are expected to attend a brief orientation session. There will be one at Sowams on October 6, 2022, at 9:00 in the morning. If you are not able to attend this one, there are other options available at other schools. Information on this may be found here.
Octoberfest Update
Sign up to volunteer for the event on 10/15:
Reminder: we ask that families volunteer at least one hour of their time on the day of the event.
Baked Goods Request for Cafe and Cake Walk:
Baked goods are used at the Octoberfest Cafe, and for the Cake Walk game at the event
Class Baskets & Raffle Tickets
Information on class baskets has been shared by all room parents
Raffle tickets for the class baskets will be sent home October 3rd for students to sell to friends, family, neighbors!
Silent Auction
We are still accepting silent auction items. Please contact Amanda Bruneau or Jessica Zuehlke if you have a silent auction item to contribute.

Flu Shot Clinics: Our district hosts two flu shot clinics. On October 26, 2022, from 4:00pm-8:00pm, Sowams will host one clinic. Barrington High School will host another one on November 3,2022, from 4:00pm-8:00pm. These clinics are free for all. Information about the clinics and how to register may be found here.
October Hot Lunch Menu: The hot lunch menu for next month may be found here. Please note: There is a menu change for October 3. It is now mini pancakes with potato puffs. (This is not reflected on the menu.)
Clothing Drive: Barrington High School’s After Prom committee is hosting a clothing drive on October 1. More information about this may be found here.
From the PTO:
October Calendar: The PTO has put together an October calendar. There is a lot of information on it, especially pertaining to Octoberfest. You may access it here.
PTO Meeting: The next PTO meeting is scheduled for Monday, October 3, 2022, at 7:00 in the evening. This is a virtual meeting. A link to the meeting will be sent out on Monday.
