There is a lot of information in today’s Backpack Express. Please make sure you read through the whole thing.
Dental Screening: Mrs. Mungovan sent out information a couple weeks ago regarding our upcoming dental screening on February 14, 2023. If your child receives routine dental care, they do not need to be screened at school. In order for us to know which students need to be screened, complete this form if your child receives regular dental care. If you already completed the form, thank you and you do NOT need to complete it again.
Hot Lunch/Breakfast: Just a reminder to double check your email accounts to see if you have received any payment requests from "BPS Chartwells". Emails are generated weekly to notify parents if they have an outstanding balance on their family's school meal account. If you have received one, please make an online payment or send in money to clear the balance on the accounts. We want to avoid having any of our families accumulating negative balances for the meal accounts. If you have any questions about your child's account, please feel free to reach out by email to Chartwells@barringtonschools.org. Please note that there is no free milk program. Milk can be purchased for $0.55 each day, with parent permission. Milk is included in a meal purchase. There are some students who purchase breakfast. The cost of this is $1.00 per day.
Kindergarten Registration: Kindergarten registration starts next Monday for children who will be five years old as of September 1, 2023. I sent an email home yesterday with all of the information. Information on registration may be found on the district’s student registration page.
Water Bottles: Please remember to send your child to school with a water bottle. Children can fill it up at our hydration stations.
PTO Calendar: The PTO has created a calendar for the month of February. You may access it here.
URI Basketball: The Sowams PTO will be hosting a Family Fun event at the URI Rams men's basketball game against UMass, which will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 18th. Tickets are available now. Information may be found here.
February PTO Meeting: The next PTO meeting will take place on Monday, February 6, 2023, at 7:00 in the evening. It is a virtual meeting. The Zoom link will be sent out on Monday.
Photo Volunteers: We are looking for some parent volunteers to come into the school to take pictures of our students, faculty, and staff for our school’s yearbook. There are various dates already selected. If you are on the approved volunteer list, you may sign up to do this here.
PTO Enrichment Program: Today is the last day to sign up for an Extended Day class. Families will be notified in about a week or so with payment due by February 13, 2023.
Sowams Directory: The directory of families has been updated. There have been additional names added and information changed. Not all families may be in the Directory; it’s up to individual families. You may email kotsirisc@barringtonschools.org for the link.
Community Notices: There are a couple community notices for you: Barrington Little League and BHS Carnival.
